Technicians, other Central Services co-workers, Housekeeping staff, and other Ambulatory Surgery staff. FUNCTION:Under the direction of the O.R. Nurse, the Central Processing Technician is responsible for cleaning, maintenance, preparation and sterilization of surgical instruments and supplies utilized in surgery; reordering/restocking of supplies and linens.  Performs other related duties as assigned. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:1)  Performs the decontamination process of dirty surgical instruments and supplies.2)  Washes, soaks instruments in lubrication milk, identifies instruments, prepares instrument trays, and sterilizes same.  Reports any missing or inoperable instruments to the O.R. Nurse Manager and Materials Manager for repair or replacement.3)  Can operate, clean and maintain the following equipment:  steam autoclaves, ultrasonic cleaner, A-Test incubator.4)  Assists in training ancillary staff to the duties of decontamination and general O.R. sanitation practices.5)  Repackages instruments and supplies that are outdated, re-sterilizes in appropriate wrap or packages using autoclave indicators, labeling packages with expiration dates and their initials.6)  Maintains departmental records and biological testing records as required for testing the effectiveness of the autoclaves.7)  Maintains color-coded instrument trays and replaces banding tapes as necessary.  Utilizes file of instrument rays and updates as needed.8)  Restocks and submits orders for supplies and cleansers that are utilized in the department.9)  Prepares Glutaraldehyde-soaking pans and labels with expiration date as needed.10)  Assists in the proper fan folding of O.R. towels and restocking of Center linens.11)  Other duties as assigned by O.R. staff or as needed in other Center areas. PROBLEM SOLVING:Instruction regarding work comes from the Nurse Manager.  Written policies and protocols are available in the department and will be read and reviewed as needed.  Decisions involve when to pull supplies for outdates and ordering/restocking of supplies and linens. ACCOUNTABILITY:Accountable for following polices and procedures of OPSC, restocking/ordering supplies and linens, establishing professional and cooperative work relationships, respecting privacy of the patients, and participating in continuing education related to Central Processing to enhance job performance. SPECIAL FACTORS:Works Monday through Friday, hours flexible based on OR schedule.  Stands about 50% of the time, lifts up to 25 pounds, and bends.  Must have good vision to inspect instruments for organic matter and adequate use of hands for assembling instrument trays, and restocking, folding linens.  Must exercise proper caution to avoid potential exposure to:  hot temperatures/steam from autoclaves, chemical vapors (glutaraldehyde), infectious hazard from soiled surgical instruments, and skin contact from cleaning agents or chemicals.

Performing servord/translations in the DMS/5ESS switch as needed.12. Locate LD call records in Sonus.12. Answering ACD calls and providing information or assistance on an existing trouble ticket.13. Answering Overflow ACD calls and assisting customer as needed, may require opening a new ticket or providing a status on an existing ticket. 14. Update notes to include current line test on all calls received and taking ticket to the next appropriate job step.15. Following up on all emails received concerning their trouble tickets within 15 minutes.16. Assist CRC Voice Tech I technicians, as needed, on more complex issues.17. Following up on other Team member tickets as assigned by Management Personnel.18. Assist with special projects or tasks as assigned by Management Personnel.19. Technician must meet assigned quotas for pending tickets and ACD calls.20. Technician must be punctual and is required to be on time for scheduled work shift and follow all breaks and lunch schedules.21. Perform other duties as needed or assigned.22. Overtime may be required outside of your normal shift hours and may include weekends and Holidays.23. Accept and take escalation calls from customers and internal employees. Follow written policies based on type of escalation in an effort to resolve.Minimum Requirements: (Not Editable) At least 2 years experience working in a telecommunications environment.Proficient in handling complex and chronic issues.Experienced in trouble-shooting voice repair issues at a Tier 2 level.Experienced with testing POTS Lines in the DMS switch or a like switch environment.Excellent Typing/Data Entry skills.Ability to operate a PC.Ability to solve problems independently through analysis with little direction from Management Personnel.Ability to work in a team-oriented environment.Ability to deal effectively with stress of workload and customers.Ability to manage time and workload to effectively handle job requirements.Ability to meet deadlines and multitask several projects at one time.Excellent verbal and written communications skills along with the ability to relate and communicate with people effectively.Strong interpersonal skills and excellent telephone manners.Knowledge of standard office and department practices and procedures.Must pass the Certification Test for CRC Voice Tech II to be eligible for promotion to a Tech II position.
